A Friday Night Out From My Perspective

April 12, 2025

It’s a Friday evening, and I’ve just wrapped up my work for the day. As I look at myself in the mirror, adjusting my collar and smoothing out the wrinkles on my shirt, I remind myself that tonight isn’t just another casual night out—it’s a chance to continue being the man I promised to be, both for my wife and for myself.

Being married (or any other type of relationship) means consciously always showing up as my best self. It’s easy to get complacent, especially after years of being together. But relationships aren’t just about coasting along and letting things slide. It’s about respect, care, and maintaining that spark that keeps the connection alive. Tonight, it’s about ensuring I’m the gentleman she deserves and that I don’t take her for granted.

The little things matter

First off, if you are ready to look super sexy the next time you’re out, check out these date outfits which will help you look like a super badass whether you’re out with someone new, someone you’ve been dating, or someone you’ve been with a long time. The truth is: you should never stop trying! Use these outfits as inspiration that you can copy exactly or modify to fit you and your personal takes.

So, when we get to the restaurant, I open the car door, and I’m already there with my hand ready to help her out. It’s a simple gesture, but it matters. It’s one of those small yet powerful ways to show that I still value her, respect her, and want to make sure she feels special, no matter how many years we’ve been married.

We walk into the restaurant, and I pull out her chair before sitting myself. Again, it’s nothing extravagant, but it’s part of the foundation I’ve built—being intentional. I greet the server with a smile and a firm handshake, showing a level of professionalism that not only reflects well on me but sets a tone for the evening. It’s essential to be respectful to everyone around you, not just your partner. People notice the little things, and they shape how they view you.

It’s all about her

As the night continues, I focus on maintaining a positive attitude. There’s no room for negativity or complaining. Whether it’s about work, traffic, or anything else that may have happened earlier in the day, I don’t let it seep into the night. I make it a point to keep the conversation light, fun, and engaging. My wife deserves to take her mind off the day’s stresses, not be dragged into another round of complaining.

The food & drink are delicious, the conversation is effortless, and we’re both enjoying ourselves. As the night wears on, I ensure I’m not the one talking the entire time. A gentleman listens as much as he speaks. I ask her about her day, dreams, and frustrations. It’s about fostering an environment where she feels heard, valued, and connected.

When the meal is over, pick up the check, of course. I’ve always believed that being a gentleman means caring for the things that matter, especially financially. But more importantly, it’s about showing that I appreciate our time together. Even in the smallest of ways, I want her to feel like she’s my queen, someone worthy of respect and admiration.

Attention to detail

As we leave the restaurant, I slip my arm around her waist, pulling her close. I’m reminded of the value of physical touch, which communicates love and closeness without needing words. We’re not just two people walking side by side—we’re a team working toward a shared goal of happiness and fulfillment.

On a side note, being a gentleman is nearly a lost art, but it doesn’t have to be… since the truth is it’s never out of style.  Being chivalrous means using proper etiquette and manners, which is not difficult and is one of our greatest assets being male.

Back at home, we end the night with a quiet moment. She leans her head on my shoulder, and I can’t help but smile. We may have had a simple night out, but these moments truly build a relationship. The kindness, attention to detail, and constant effort to be the best version of yourself keep everything moving forward.

Be a gentleman

Being in a relationship or being a married man means staying committed—not just to your partner, but to the values that brought you together in the first place. It’s about being the man who shows respect, leads with a positive attitude, and ensures that every moment is worth remembering.

Being a gentleman by giving a woman the respect she deserves is what chivalry is all about.  It’s not rocket science or difficult in any way, and it’s not outdated, demeaning, or uncool. Instead, it is a highly appreciated and valued quality and behavior that most women wish all men exhibited.  Be your own man by stepping up and being the gentleman everyone should be.  Not only will the women love you for it, but you’ll gain a great sense of pride and satisfaction by being recognized as a guy women enjoy spending time with.

And tonight? Tonight was a reminder of why I married her in the first place. She’s everything to me; I’ll always strive to show her that. Every day. Every night.
